It is incredible how creative Hublot is! So you personally may like the watch or not, that does not change anything…
Respect for the ongoing surprises the team around CEO Ricardo Guadeloupe delivers to the world of watches almost every two months …
We always have to remember what Hublot stands for: Avantgarde and fusion. Hublot uses materials to build cases and bezels and watchmaking technologies the world did not see before. Partnering with artists is a perfect playground for the brand. Hublot wanted to create a piece that was a tribute to New York City and found that “Concrete Jungle” would be a fitting name; both the nickname for the city, as well as naming an actual material component of the watch. In following the brand’s mission to “Be First, Be Different, Be Unique,” the latest style will incorporate real elements of concrete in the bezel.
The watch’s case back features Tristan Eaton’s* signature collage technique that creates a colorful motif of the Statue of Liberty, named Liberty (2016). The subject was first explored in Tristan Eaton’s* original piece, Liberty, painted in September of 2012 at the corner of Mulberry Street and Canal Street in New York City’s Little Italy neighborhood. Liberty serves as a perfect example of how Tristan Eaton’s* works incorporate the “Art of Fusion,” an important aspect to Hublot’s brand identity.
* Tristan Eaton is one of the most prominent Street Artists / Muralists working today. Eaton’s distinct, large scale murals feature a meticulous, visual collage of pop imagery mixed with his unmistakable personal style, all executed with freehand spray paint on a colossal scale. After a diverse career in the arts spanning 20 years,Eaton is currently a full-time studio painter and large-scale muralist. Eaton is regularly commissioned by a variety of collectors and collaborators such as Barack Obama, Nike, Donatella Versace, Google and Disney. Eaton’s work can be found in over 30 cities across the globe including Paris, Shanghai, London and New York as well as in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA)
